The 3M Speedglas G5-01 Welding Helmet with 3M Adflo Respirator gives you eye, face and respiratory protection. The flip-up helmet provides greater efficiency as it allows you to switch from welding to grinding without changing PPE.

The Speedglas G5-01 also has 2 options for the welding filter, the TW (617820) filter has what’s called Tack Welding mode whilst the VC (617830) filter has Variable Colour technology.

Another benefit to mention is you can have full control of the airflow within the helmet whilst wearing it. This includes the direction of air and also the amount making it extremely comfortable to wear. It also connects to the 3M Connected Equipment app via Bluetooth.

Do I need an Air-Fed Welding Helmet?
At the beginning of 2019, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) reported a rise in standards for welding fumes. The reason behind it is a report issued by the International Agency for Research on Cancer in 2017. It states that UV radiation from welding as well as welding fumes are considered Group 1 carcinogens. The new standards declare that all indoor welding tasks need to be performed under local exhaust ventilation (LEV). In addition, if the LEV is unable to control the amount of welding fumes, the workers are required to use personal respiratory protective equipment (RPE), more commonly known as welding fume masks. If the tasks are performed outdoors, there is no need for LEV and only RPE is required.
